I'm wondering what you think of Eco's argument concerning other forms of media and their relation to literacy. Is his argument still kind of radical? How is his style different than the others? How do his views relate to what we've read so far? Does modern technology really threaten the book? Or, do you agree with him that there are other things to be worried about?
Ohmann is pretty tough, I think. How does what he argues relate to Freire, if it does? Do you agree that there are different kinds of literacy and that some are not as altruistic as others? Do computers dehumanize us? Or, do they give us more control and agency in our lives?
Who would you rather hang out with of the four authors we've read and why?
