Welcome to the class blog. For the first, time we'll be sharing this space between two classes, so you may see some people posting who you are not familiar with. Try to be polite to everyone writing in this space.
The Blog is a space where you are expected to do a little freewriting between classes. We will often start class by checking out people's posts on the blog, sometimes in regards to the reading assigned at the same time. Be sure to keep up with blog postings...Generally I will put a new blog post up by the following morning after a class.
Let's start by doing a little writing exercise. Please respond to the following question: What kind of a writer are you?

I am not a very strong writer. I tend to write like I would be talking to someone. It has gotten me into some trouble with old high school teachers.
What Kind of writer am I? I would be best described as someone who is into creative writing. Whether it be poetry, short stories, ect. I find that writing in this fashion isn't as much as a task, or obligation as writing a thesis paper.
I enjoy writing and think I'm pretty good at it, however, I sometimes have a hard time getting started. The quality of my work is usually better when its about something I am interested in.
I am a bad writer. I usually can never think of anything to write. Sometimes i can't figure out how to organize my writing and link it together.
Thanks for the invitation to be on your supa-wonda-blog. I am not the world best writer, but I am excited for you to show me the way to write a supa wonda blogs.
I am the kind of writer that hasn't had very much practice. I need many people to read my paper and critique it before I feel ready to turn it in. I have had some horrible English teacher in high school, so I'm just going to blame them.
I am definitely not a confident writer. I have a hard time being creative, and with making my writing flow smoothly. No one has ever said anything extremely positive about my writing, but nothing terrible either.
What kind of writer am I? Judging by the above sentence it would seem that I was more into journalism, or reporting upon true events and the stories of other peoples lives. Although I have a lot of respect and passion for journalism, most of the writing that partake in is in more of a creative matter. I like to write poetry and short stories, unfortunately the looseness of creative writing (such as enjambments in poetry) hinders my writing that is sometimes more important in school; I make too many careless mistakes in term papers because I try to make them more interesting and overlook things such as commas and (what I consider to be)objective punctuation.
I am not sure what kind of writer I am. I never thought I was very good at writing because when I would get a paper revised it had so many revisions on it. Also I would only get okay grades on papers I wrote but I am trying to learn more and think of myself as a good writer.
I am a decent writer. If I gave more of an effort in my writing I'm sure I could improve. There are some topics that I can write about very easily, but there are others where I can't write a thing.
I would say I am a realistic writer. If I'm writing a short story or any paper I try to use a lot of detail and create a realistic image of whatever it is that I am talking about. Whenever I'm reading my paper I want to be able to mentally see what it is that I am writing about.
The kind of writer I am is very descriptive. I like the reader to be able to step into the character's shoes and view everything from their perspective.
I apologize for the comment before. I am still looking forward to this class. I tend to enjoy writing, however I feel the quality of my work is higher when I am writing about a subject I am interested in. I will do my best to be interested in the topics here.
I'm excited to have started class, and am especially looking forward to "blogging". Writing isn't exactly a hobby of of mine, but I don't mind doing it.
I'm the bomb. My self-confidence is way high, although I know my writing isn't the best. I also have to revise ALOT before it gets good...the end result I'm happy with...I think it shows who I am as an individual compared to others who have to write the same thing...I find that enjoyable.
I am a writer who is original. I will stand up for what i believe in if it is a controversial topic, otherwise i can be creative depending on what i am told to write about.
I am a developing writer. With every piece of material that I read or write, my knowledge of different writing techniques expands. =)))
I don't mind writing too much. I tend to have trouble starting, but once I get going I'm usually fine.
I feel that I am a decent writer, however, I am over-critical of myself. I tend to read what I've written and then throw it out as if it weren't good enough, or smart enough. I prefer to write creatively, generally having fun exploring what's in my head, but I usually dislike writing when it's mandatory.
I write about fictional situations that with realistic emotions in the characters. I'm also trying to write down what I'm doing at 1:37 every day, but I haven't found a use for that yet.
I am a fairly good writer and am very particular about my work. It takes me an extremely long time to write an essay with which I am satisfied. Oftentimes, I will write a sentence and then rewrite it so many times that will waste half an hour on tweaking one sentence. I am virtually unable to complete a writing assignment in class without extended time. Fortunately, I am in the learning disabilities department, which allows me to take that time.
I think that I am an o.k. writer, it really depends on the subject I am writing about. I usually just write whatever passes through my head and sometimes it doesn't quite make sense. Starting a piece is hard for me but once I get further into it, it gets easier. I have trouble adding a lot of detail to my work, it's something I need to work on.
I believe that I am a decent writer. All throughout high school I had great English teachers that taught me a lot about writing and grammar. I think I could improve on my free writing skills, vocabulary, and creative writing.
i think i am a good writer. I had a crazy teacher in high school who was a grammar nazi. I had her for two years. She was hard but i sucked up a lot. Once i get started writing, i am usually fine. But starting a paper is sometimes hard for me
I would like to say that I am the kind of writer who skydives without a parachute and takes his chances. I have great faith in my writing and that I can do great things with it. I am continually writing my songs, poems, and novels throughout my days. Having others see a different perspective in writing or life is very important to my style. I am a dreamer. I am a creator.
I feel as though I am an average writer. I have some papers that are better than others. I am not a consistent writer at all. I am a better writer when I have a topic and specific guidelines as opposed to a free write.
I guess I would say that I am a decent writer. It is usually hard for me to get myself started, but once I finally get my thoughts together I can do it! Like most people, it is easier for me to write about topics that I more easily relate to.
I consider myself a somewhat strong writer. I enjoy creative writing such as short stories and things of the sort. A few cons to my writing is that at times I find myself writing as if I am speaking to someone and tend to switch tenses. At times it's hard to connect my ideas and thoughts with what I'm supposed to be writing about and it's definitely gotten me in trouble before.
I feel as writer I have many strengths and weaknesses. I took a creative writing class in high school so I have experience in journal writing as well as free writing. I enjoy writing to an extent if the subject is interesting to me.
I think this class can help me grow as a writer because I feel there are many things that I need to improve on and I am exited to become a better writer.
I like writing when I am interested in the subject. I tend to write more formally because I think it makes me sound smarter. It's hard for me to get started sometimes and organize my thoughts but once I do, I usually am pleased with what I write. I don't like writing narratives, stories, or poetry but more informational or analytical.
I am not really sure what kind of writer I am. I know that I like to write. My writing is better when I am interested in the topic or I know a lot about the topic. Sometimes I feel like I have a problem in expressing my thoughts through my writing.
I feel that I am a pretty decent writer! I always have something to talk about, so its easy for me to create topics and ideas. My only downfall is that I do not have a lot of confidence in my writing, so I tend to hesitate on what I want to say not really knowing if its right or wrong.
I would have to say that I am not a very organized writer. While writing about a topic I tend to bring up many valid points but have problems putting all of the information together. It usually takes me longer to revise my papers than to actually write them.
I like to think that I am at least a decent writer. I enjoy writing if I enjoy the topic at hand, or if I know what I am talking about. I like to be creative, and prefer not to be a generic writer.
I consder myself a very strong writer when I choose to be. Some times I'm just lazy in my writting and just half ass stuff. Other times I can write well and be very persiuave, becuase I think the power of persiuasion is a good thing to have in life. I find myself a natural at it, but am always looking forward to improving it. The biggest thing that my writting does suffer from is that I am very informal in my writting and spelling and grammer are major errors in my writting. I really should've worked on those things in HS but but I never really thought about it then. So, as a result of that one of my goals for this year and this class is to become a better writer.
I think I am a pretty good writer. I know I have my weak points but I believe that I possess several strong points as well. Throughout high school I displayed strong and weak writing varying on the topic I was given to write about.
I would say I'm an average writer. I love to write stories. I also like going into descriptive detail about the stories so it seems like you are there.
I feel that I'm not a very strong writer. I do my best with the hope to improve. I feel my strengths are that I like to express myself though my writing, that I am able to write like I think. Though this often leads to errors in my writing, because you don't always think in the way that you should put something on paper.
i am a lazy writer i don't really understand a lot of the rules of writing... i try to finish my writing as soon as possible just to make it go away
I have been told I am an excellent writer. I enjoy exercising my ability to write, as it seemingly does not feel like work. My way with words has come quite naturally.
