Thought I'd just mention that Gee's Learning Principles is a list at the END of his book...so don't bother saying that you don't see any evidence for it or don't understand how he comes up with it...cause I didn't include the rest of the book...you'll see him go in detail about a few of them, though in the Dark Sonic chapter...he argues that we learn all kinds of other stuff when we play what he calls good games...he doesn't mean non-violent, he means games that are "better," more compelling, than others...
What exactly is Gee's argument concerning playing the Dark Sonic character? Why does he think that it's a good thing? Do Gee's ideas cancel out the detractors or run alongside them? What is most convincing regarding Gee's arguments? What is most hard to believe?
If you have any ideas regarding team building or training (researching games together), let me know...My concern about the GRID lab is that they don't return emails and are too busy with their own stuff to let us in there...it costs money to play there...any ideas?
By the way, if you have access to BFV, my tag is MistaBones and I usually play on the RR flaming dart 24/7 server...find me and try and get me...

This article was a nice change up from the other readings we've been doing. As i read through a few of the other commments, I'd have to agrre with them agreeing with Gee about a character's goal of a game. Whether or not you are mario trying to save the princess or you are sam fisher in splinter cell, you don't really think of the things your character does, you are just trying to advance to the next leverl, or receive more points; whatever that may include doing. You just, i guess, relate or understand what it is you have to do to further yourself in the game. Like younger children, they may just look at San Andreas as a fun game, going around stealing and killing people to fulfill a mission, while their parents think it is teaching their child too much violence. Games are made for entertainment purposes and it's nice to see that more people are starting to realize that.
