Rather than focus on the reading, for this blog entry, I'd like you to consider the pros and cons of working within new media like the blog and wiki. What do we have to gain and/or lose by using such technologies for instruction in writing classes? Does such work prepare us for life outside of college?
Consider how questions about the usefulness of new writing technologies in writing classrooms relates to modern literacy. What do you think literacy is all about? Does literacy include more skills than just those related to reading and writing with a pen and paper? How might we define literacy and what is the place of technology in that definition?

Btw, be prepared to lead discussion with your group based on one of the topics you've prepared via the wiki. Try and figure out ways to get your classmates engaged. Your topics are really shaping up and I look forward to it!

I believe that technology and literacy play hand in hand and will only benefit the process and and accuracy of literature. Rather than spending hours writing and revising and wasting paper, all you have to do is turn the computer on, type it out cutting the process time down; spell checking and using internet sources to spell check, cutting down time spent in the dictionary; and saves a lot of paper that would have been thrown out because of mistakes. I do not believe that technology is taking the place of literature, only improving it. And yes, technology is going to be beneficial for us after college and into our lives because technology is only going to become more advanced as the years go by and unlike most parents today, we as parents will be able to help our children in the world of technology.
I think using this technology advances our knowledge about the internet, and what it has to offer. It also is an easier way to get work done, plus, you aren't writing as much becaue it is all on the computer. This new technology will be very beneficial for us in the future and after college, because I'm sure that technology will be even more advanced than it is today in the future, and we will have that little bit of experience to help us out so we understand it, and we are able to help others.
I believe that using this new technology has more pros than cons, and we gain alot just by doing our assignment online. We are able to access so much more information in just one click of the mouse. Instead of wasting time with rough drafts and paper, we can turn in our assignments on line and brainstorm them while doing it. In the future I think technology will increase and advance rapidly. Just being 18 years of age, I have seen many advancements in technology and by the time I have children and grand children, I cant even imagine whats in store. Without technology classroom learning settings would be so much different.
I think technology definitely has its pros but i also feel there are some cons to it. Some people might get so used to being able to do everything online or always referring to technology that if anything were to happen and it suddenly wasn't there then people wouldn't know how to act. We have been so used to relying on the computer or anything else technology wise to do things for us and I think a lot of people have forgot about how to do things the old ways. Don't get me wrong I love technology and would hate to live without it but I think we need to remember how to do things without just relying on technology.
Technology has been improving over the recent years. I personally have a hard time remembering when people used type writers instead of computers. I definitely think there are many pros in technology. For instance, we can communicate with people around the world, as well as look up information sources with out even leaving our room. When it comes to turning in homework assignments, it is environmental friendly because you don't have to waist any paper. I cannot deny that these things make the world we live in today a lot easier! But I still feel like there is one big con when it comes to technology. I feel like technology can really take away from interacting with people personally. When it comes to blogging, I think it is a great idea for our class and other English classes. But I do feel like it takes away being able to see someone and how they feel while they are speaking their mind.
kI think that by mixing technology into the classroom we are only expanding our knowledge and learning new things. Technology is constantly improving and plays such a large role in our daily lives that i believe it is crucial for us to use in the classroom, not to mention it saves alot of trees from becoming scrap paper. Ive never been very good at computers and know that when it comes to knowing things about them that i am a little behind compared to most kids my age. This is why i especialy like using technology such as our class blog because im finally, as bad as it sounds, am learnig more about computers. Technology is so important because it will only be used more and become more advanced as time goes on.
I think that this kind of technology is helping for when we are out of college. Most of the think that we do in life have to do with technology and mostly computers. I like this kind of stuff because i like working with computers. It can be a little confusing sometimes but once we get the hang of it, it could possibly be easier than actually turning in papers to the teacher.
I think that literacy and technology go hand in hand. Both of them are about discovering new ideas and writing about them or just learning about them.
One thing we have to gain in using new technologies like these is constant interaction with each other. Everyone is always involved and able to speak their mind. I feel that incorporating this into a writing class makes it interesting and new. Something we may be losing is being able to interact in person. We get so used to sitting behind a computer screen and saying how we feel that we forget how to do it in person. I feel like this kind of work does prepare us for work outside of college. In the field that I would like to get involved with I will deal with computers everyday.
Using this technology is a good idea to extend our knowledge of ways the internet can be used. Who knows, maybe in a few years every professor or teacher could be using blog entries and wiki's as everyday assignments. One disadvantage to using a blog is that one comment can be made on a topic. However in class, a discussion my go on and many exchanges could be made between individuals. A blog seems to report feedback on a question, rather than argue or discuss points from both sides. Using blog's and wiki's definitely prepares us for life outside of college. The process of learning how to use new technology will be very important in our future jobs. Keeping up with new developing technology is very important in today's world.
With technology improving so much in today's society, computers are starting to take the places of people. I believe that using the computer as a way of writing our papers in benefitial for not only us but the teacher as well. Learning to use the computer successfully will help a tremendous amount in the future, that is because many jobs are requiring extensive background with computer technology. Also using the computer takes out the factor of human error to some degree.
