Juicy Campus sounds like a bad idea that went very wrong but makes money in the process. Rumors and stories posted on the internet for anyone to see can cause many problems in all aspects of their life. It can affect there future jobs and there present social life
A website like that is horrible. Its not okay to harass or humiliate people online. A website like that doesn't work the way it was created for. People soon leave racist comments and violent threats.
The article was pretty interesting in the sense that people are actually aloud to produce web sites like this. This should not be a web site that people are able to use. If you want to go around talking about people behind their backs and making false accusations then you should keep it to yourself and not make it a big story for other people to see. The fact that juicy campus is able to get away with letting people destroy others image is wrong. This basically seems like a big "high school" age gossip web site. This is also a scam to make money. The people who created it dont care if it is a success or not, but rather to just make some money. Overall it is a poor idea, and will soon probably be shut down.
I think this site and post like that is just wrong. i understand people can write whatever they want on the web, but for a college to accept the website i don't think is right. if someone would saw this stuff in their face they could be sewed for harassment. i understand people do this stuff all the time on facebook and stuff but at least on their you can delete posts people put on there overall i think it would be a good idea to ban it.
I really can't see anything potentially good coming from this website. It sounds basically like MySpace or Facebook, but nobody has to know that you were the one to write something you post. It appears that this web site exists for students to slander, attack other students, and post things that may or may not be true without owning up to it. There are no consequences for people who may write terrible things about other students.
I don't think that there is any need for a web site like this. It's hard enough in the real world when people gossip and talk about a student; they don't need it to be spread all over the virtual world as well.
This is horrible. This is boarder line slander. I don't see the good in this site; sure you can vent, or clear your name. But it does more harm than good. People don't like reading good things about people, they want to hear about the worst in people, to see people beaten down and degraded. This is sick, what about rights of privacy?! Maybe I don't want my personal life written up on a website for the world to see. It's sites like this that can ruin people's lives. Hurtful words posted on this site can push people over the edge; people can commit suicide over simple words on a computer screen. How is a site like this even able to stay up? I know, freedom of speech and all, but this is slander, and that's not legal. This just makes me angry.
Privicy is something that we seem to get less of these days. I do think a site like Juicycampus.com does have constitutional freedoms. One thing that does aggravate me is people abusing these freedoms. We live in a time where young adults have very fragile minds. There self image is very low and do not handle things very well. Its hard for me personally to understand these posters. I guess I just cannot bash someones good name on the net.
Juicy Campus told me everything I ever wanted to know about the birds and the bee's and I probably won't be able to sleep well tonight.
Overall I completely agree with the article on CNN this website is nothing but bad news nothing good can come from it...
I think I'll write something
This website is the most pre-teen, adolescent site out there. It is just a place to make fun of and spread rumors of someone. It is weird that they get away with it because it is like they are getting away with libel, which is basically written untruths. Libel is a crime to do. It just seems like the people on it are not mature at all and maybe feel like they are cool or something else dumb like that. I just seems like that would be a more common place for 6th graders or reflects the age of a 6th grader.
I am definitely not in favor of Juicy Campus. People tend to believe anything they read or hear and Juicy Campus gives anyone the access to post anything they want about anybody. Being able to post without identification seems to make people believe it is o.k. to say whatever they want. Sites like these lead to gossip about others that can affect their social life and possibly their career. Sites like these should be banned from college campuses across the nation.
Juicy campus is pretty horrible. In this website they can post stories and make comments about people that are very hurtful and cruel. People don't really use this website in a good way. this is just posting rumors and gossip to the whole campus and everyone else who goes to the website.
Wow Juicy Campus is something I figured they had out there, but had never seen before. Although, I do feel that the site says things that are mean and hurtful to others, it also allows people to express their feelings freely. I do believe that if you are unable to put your name on something you're going to say, then it probably isn't something you should b saying. I think its something that is a little immature for college students, but at the same time, it shows the ugly things that some people do. I don't think that this site is informative or even helpful to the college student, but like other gossip sites, it gives teens a place to share their feelings.
I think that it degrades us college kids back down to the high school level with all the burnbooks. These things are pointless and unnecessary. The fact that everything is anonymous just adds to the fact that any d-bag can say anything that they want and not have to worry about the repercussions of their actions. This is just one step further into how the online blog world is going to hell.
Juicy Campus just spreads the idea that being gossipy and mean is fun. It says its a way to tell the truth, but looking into other peoples lives is unhealthy how it is displayed in JuicyCampus.com. It promotes a kind of mean girl mentality which should of been left in highschool, but instead is brought into college on a website. I hope this site is taken off soon, even though I believe in freedom of speech writing about other peoples lives with out having to take any responsibility is ridiculous and if you can't back up your comments with your name, who ever made this is obviously deluded.
I don't think that this is a website that we should have around. It's horrible that people can get on and say whatever they want to about anyone whether it is true or not. In one message that I read it gave out someone's contact info (which is crazy to me) and what makes it even worse is that it said that if they contact them they can get sexual favors from that person.
I am appalled that higher education institutions like those listed in the article would even allow this to go on, especially after the incident where one student committed suicide. I am not only furious because a person's life was lost, but also because the post was a JOKE!!!!
Whoever posts negative comments on juicycampus.com are cowards and they all need to grow the heck up!!!!
I think it's bad that people are making a site just to gossip about another person. It COULD ruin someones lfe. However, a ton of people like those gossips. No matter how many people are against the site, there's always more people who look at it. And even if some of the viewers think it's bad, they still go ahead and look at the page because they like seeing someone's life is crappier than theirs.
I really hate websites like that I mean it's just another means for assholes to make money by exploiting people that basically talked to them about personal things that they thought they were telling them in confidence just for people to turn around and put that on the internet. It's pretty messed up.
this is pretty degrading to people. I don't even know what to say!
